5 expats die in road accident

Five expatriates were killed in a horrific road accident in Abqaiq in the Eastern Province on Wednesday.
Five others were seriously injured. They were taken to a hospital in Alkhobar for treatment.
The victims were identified as three Filipinos, one Indian and one Pakistani. All five died on the spot.
A hospital source identified the five victims as Clemanico Acyen, 31, Danilo Mimis, 30, Juan Abrajano, 30, Rafaqat Mughal Mohammed, 29, from Pakistan, and Shobu Soman, 30, from India.
Saudi Red Crescent ambulances, along with those from the Civil Defense and Saudi Aramco, rushed to the site and brought the injured to the hospital.
The expatriatess were working for a construction company in Abqaiq and were on their way to their work site in Dhahran in their minivan when it collided with a truck.
On Thursday, surgeries were carried out on two critically injured Indian workers. “They are Velaizan and Zahid,” said an Indian social worker, Vijayan, who is helping the victims.
Raju, an Indian, working for the contracting company, was distraught. “I can’t believe that five of my colleagues are no more,” he told Arab News. “It is shocking.”
The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh told Arab News that it did not receive any information about the death of three of its nationals in the Abqaiq accident.
