Chennai: The ruling AIADMK on Tuesday vowed to strive with dedication and ensure a resounding win for the party in all the 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu and a lone seat in the neighbouring Union territory of Puducherry so as to empower party supremo and chief minister J. Jayalalithaa to lead the nation.
On the occasion of the 26th death anniversary of party founder M.G. Ramachandran fondly known as MGR, the party took a pledge to strengthen the hands of party supremo.
Earlier, Jayalalithaa led her party men in remembering her mentor and leader in paying floral tributes at his memorial at Marina. The pledge was administered by party treasurer and finance minister O. Panneerselvam to workers.
“We resolve to work towards the goal of securing a massive win in all the 40 seats in the coming Lok Sabha elections and hand over the authority to Amma (Jayalalithaa) to lead the future India,” the pledged said.
Members also resolved to undertake a campaign soon to highlight the achievements of Jayalalithaa, particularly her efforts on eliminating poverty, ensuring food security. They will garner people's support in ensuring her golden rule bloomed at the national capital. They will also highlight the numerous initiatives of Jayalalithaa in fostering development in Tamil Nadu.
Meanwhile, public meetings will be organised at various places across the state to explain the resolutions passed at the party’s general council and executive committee meeting at suburban Vanagaram on December 19.
Jayalalithaa has deputed party seniors including E. Madhusudhanan, C. Ponnaiyan, O. Panneerselvam, besides legislators and propaganda secretary P. Thambidurai, to address the meetings.
