Arrest of Muslim youths condemned in Minorities Rights Day celebrations
Hyderabad , December 18:
It is most unfortunate that after Mr. Basheeruddin Babu Khan, the Dept. of Minorities Welfare did not get an honest and sincere minister. This was expressed by Mr. Shafeequzzaman, IAS (Rtd.) on the occasion of “Rights of Minorities Day” organized by the Dept. of Minorities Welfare Govt. of A.P. He told that if the Dept. of Minorities Welfare makes a serious representations for the development of Muslims, The community would not have faced injustice. He condemned the arrest of innocent Muslim youths on fake charges of terrorist activities. They are not only worried due to the charges but they are also suffering economically and socially. It is the symbol of sick bureaucracy that immediately after terrorist attacks, Muslim youths are arrested under fabricated charges. He further told that communalism has reached its height in administration. The so-called secular political parties and the fundamentalists communal parties are equally responsible for it.
Citing the examples of payment of compensation to the innocent arrested Muslims, Govt. release the funds on the basis of the recommendation of Minorities Commission, but Govt. kept quiet on the issue of detecting the compensation amount from the salaries of erring police officers. When asked why has this not been done? The reply of the Govt. was that by taking such actions the Dept. of police would be demoralized. He also said that the tradition of encouraging such illegal actions has been promoted. We have no objection if the Govt. enacts a very harsh terrorist law but a provision should be made to take action against the officers who misuse the law. He told that during the training of Civil Service Officers, it is essential to train them about multicultural values.
